Effectiveness Of Dental Plaque Staining Solution Using Purple Sweet Potato Extract (Ipomea Batatas L) At 10% And 20% Concentration On Debris Index
Abstract
Background: Index debris is a soft deposit consisting of food debris attached to the tooth surface. Oral debris is a soft material on the surface of the teeth that can constitute plaque. Plaque cleaning will be optimized by visualizing dental plaque with a coloring material called a disclosing agent. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of dental plaque coloring solution with purple sweet potato extract (ipomoea batatas l) concentrations of 10% and 20% against the debris index. Methods: True experiment research method with posttest research design with control group design. This research was conducted in June 2023 at the Manado Poltekkes Kemenkes Dental Health Department Clinic with a total sample of 30 respondents and divided into 3 groups with a sampling technique that is by inclusion criteria. The research instrument used the index debris examination format. Data analysis using the One Way ANOVA test. Data was obtained and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. Results: The results of this study indicate the average value of the debris index in groups I, II, and III (control group) obtained the highest average value in group III and the One Way Anova test obtained a significant value of 0.015 <0.05, Conclusion: The average value of the debris index is significantly different or not the same, where group III (control group) is still more effective in staining dental plaque.
