Potensi Seduhan Teh Herbal Bunga Pepaya Jantan (Carica papaya L) Dalam Menurunkan Kadar Gula Darah Tikus Putih Terinduksi Fruktosa dan Lemak
Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) was a chronic disease caused by damage or disruption of insulin secretion characterized by increased blood glucose levels. Male Papaya flowers (Carica papaya L.) contain flavonoids, tannins, and triterpenoid steroids were known to have antidiabetic activity. The aim of this study was to determine the potency of male papaya flower herbal tea (Carica papaya L.) on the blood glucose levels of rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by fructose and fat. The research was a laboratory experimental research. The animal models were divided into 4 groups, the first group as normal controls, was given standard feed and drinking water ad libitum; 2nd group, as a negative control, was given distilled water; 3rd group was given 2% male papaya flower herbal tea; 4th group was given 2% green tea. The data in the form of blood glucose levels were analyzed descriptively and presented as tables and diagrams. The results showed that male papaya flower (Carica papaya L.) herbal tea has the potential to reduce blood glucose levels in fructose and fat-induced rats (Rattus norvegicus).
