Gambaran Nilai Hemoglobin Pada Perokok Aktif Usia 17-35 Tahun di Kelurahan Biga Kecamatan Kotamobagu Utara
Abstract
Hemoglobin is a protein that has the ability to combine with oxygen and with oxygen it forms oxyhemoglobin in red blood cells. Smoking is a form of combustion that produces white smoke (carbon particles) and carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide contained in cigarettes has a great affinity for hemoglobin, making it easier for them to bind to each other to form carboxyhemoglobin. This results in hemoglobin unable to bind oxygen to be released to various tissues. The human body will try to compensate for the decrease in oxygen levels by increasing hemoglobin levels. This research was conducted in Kelurahan Biga, Kotamobagu Utara District with a descriptive method. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Samples were taken as many as 30 people who met the inclusion criteria and then examined the hemoglobin value using a Hematology Analyzer in the Kotamobagu Hospital laboratory. The results showed that most of the smokers' hemoglobin values were still in normal condition as many as 23 respondents (77%). While a small proportion of respondents have abnormal hemoglobin values amounting to 7 people (23%). The average hemoglobin value of active smokers aged 17-35 years overall is 15.1 g/dL. Smokers are advised to stop smoking activities considering the dangers and impacts on health such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, coronary heart disease and so on.
