Strategi Meningkatkan Pengetahuan Dan Keterampilan Orangtua Dalam Merawat Anak Balita Dengan Diare
Abstract
Diarrhea is still a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five. Nationally, the death of children aged 1-4 years due to diarrhea about 25.2% (Riskesdas, 2013). Correct parent's actions against diarrhea children are influenced by many things, including knowledge and skills possessed by parents. This study aims to determine the effect of education on knowledge and parenting skills in GMIM Pancaran Kasih General Hospital Manado. The study design was one-group pre test-post test design of 30 samples, taken with consecutive sampling technique. Respondents were given treatment in the form of education to care for children under five with diarrhea. Skill-knowledge variables were measured using questionnaire and observation sheets. The result of this research shows the difference of average of knowledge and skill of parent before and after education p = 0,000 (p <0,05), so it can be concluded that education has significant influence to parent knowledge and skill in caring for children under five with diarrhea. It is recommended that health education on parents is done continuously and structured.
