Abstract

Background & Objectives: Large populations encourage large increases in the number of under-aged populations coupled with low public health status will increase the burden of eradication activities of Acute Respiratory Infestion (ARI). So the knowledge and attitude of mother about ISPA is needed to avoid balita from ISPA. This study aims to prove whether or not the relationship of knowledge to the attitude of mothers who have children under five with the incidence of ARI disease.
Method: This study used analytic survey method with cross sectional study design. The sample was taken using accidental sampling method to get 90 respondents. Mother's knowledge and attitude variable is taken with questionnaire. Statistical analysis using Chi Square test.
Results: Of the 90 respondents, 69 respondents (76.7%) were well knowledgeable 21 respondents (22.3%) were not well informed. As for the attitude of 90 respondents who have good attitude there are 86 respondents (96.6%) and who have poor attitude 4 respondents (4.4%). The result of analysis from 90 respondents who have good knowledge are 69 respondents consisting of 66 respondents (73,3%) are good, and those with bad attitude are 3 respondents (3.3%). While respondents are not good knowledge of 21 respondents consisting of 20 respondents (22.2%) be nice and who have less good attitude 1 respondent (1.1%). From result of chi square test got p.value 0,936> 0,05.
Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between knowledge on mother attitude to have children under five with incidence of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) disease.
