EFFECT OF DEMONSTRATION AND SIMULATION OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT HANDLING TO BUS DRIVERS KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND SKILLS IN KAROMBASAN TERMINAL MANADO CITY

Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the biggest causes of death in Indonesia to over 80%. Health education is an effort or activity to help individual, groups, and others in improve their ability of knowledge, attitude, and skill to achieve a healthy life. The purpose of this research is to know the Influence of Demonstration and Simulation of Traffic Accident Handling to Knowledge, Attitude and Skill of Bus Driver.
This type of research is pre experimental research conducted on 15 respondents who determined stratified random sampling.
Data collection was obtained from the results of questionnaires and observation sheets and analyzed by using Willcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the study of 15 pretest knowledge respondents (67%) knowledgeable less while the posttest became (13%) knowledgeable less. In the pretest attitude there are (47%) have a positive attitude while posttest increase to (73%) have a positive attitude. In pretest the skill no one is skilled whereas posttest (34%) skillful.
The conclusion of research that has been done in Karombasan City Terminal Manado with Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test results for the knowledge on the respondents there is a significant influence where p-value = 0.001 (α <0.05), for the attitude there is a significant influence where p-value = 0,003 (α <0,05) and skill have significant influence where p-value = 0,001 (α <0,05) meaning that there is influence of demonstration and simulation of traffic accident handling to bus driver's knowledge, attitude and skill. Suggestions are expected to increase the insight of ordinary people and can apply in everyday life if they find victims who need immediate help.
