THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERPROFESSIONAL EDUCATION THROUGH PROBLEM BASED LEARNING APPROACH BY LECTURER OF VARIOUS DISCIPLINES AT HEALTH POLYTECHNIC OF JAKARTA III
Abstract
This study aimS to assess the readiness of lecturers to implement the Interprofessional Education (IPE) to the students of Nursing, Midwivery, Medical Technology Laboratory and Physiotherapi.
The design of this study is survey. 49 surveys of multidisciplines lecturers and 486 surveys from first year students (nursing, midwivery, medical laboratory technology and physioterapist were matching for pre/post analysis. Initiation of Interprofessional learning as an orientation includes; (1). IPE initiation and training as fascilitator of SCL for lecturers, (2). Tutorial about IPE and SCL for students and (3).Problem solving in multidisciplinary group with Problem Based Learning (PBL) technique. Lecturers are sensitized using triggers designed to be exposed to four IPE domains. The pre and post quantitative studies were applied to examine the change of perceptions and attitudes of lecturers to the IPE during their participation in this activity by using RIPLS scale and IEPS scale.
Result and conclusions: The IPE concept and process with SCL with Multidiscipline Problem Solving Approach trough PBL Learning is new for the lecturers in Health Polytechnic of Jakarta III, Ministry of Health but has been given positive effect to the lecturers and students readiness to implement IPE. There was a significant difference between lecturers’ perceptions based on RIPLS scale, before and after training (p=0.013) with the difference of value 3.102. Lecturer revealed that there were many benefits as well as challanges about IPE and learning with PBL method
