Penerapan Filter Multi Media Paralel Untuk Menurunkan Kadar Besi (Fe) Dan Mangan (Mn)

Abstract

 

 The presence of Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) in domestic water supply systems has become a very serious problem. The presence of iron in the water can cause health problems, causing unpleasant odors and colors, yellow on the walls of the bathtub, bathroom and yellow spots on the clothes. Therefore, the amount of Iron (Fe) levels exceeding the standard must be reduced by processing. The quality of clean water, especially well water residents in the Srandakan Subdistrict, is not good quality, this is seen from the murky physical quality, fishy smell, if the water is left 1 x 24 hours will change color, and there is a crust on household furniture, as well as deposits in the bathtub. Based on preliminary studies of Fe levels in Krajan Hamlet, Poncosari Srandakan Bantul has a Fe level of 3 mg / lt while Mn levels of 2 mg / lt. The purpose of this research is to find out the ability of Parallel Multi Media Filter Model in Lowering Fe And Mn Levels in Krajan Hamlet Poncosari Village Srandakan Subdistrict, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research is experimental research. With the research design "Pre Test-Post Test Group Design". Primary data collection is done by taking and examining samples for iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) levels in water. The study was conducted in August-September 2021. Test results data is analyzed descriptively. 

The results of the examination showed that the Parallel Multi Media Filter was able to lower the level of Iron (Fe) well water by 94.44% and was able to reduce the level of Manganese (Mn) well water by 84.28%.
