Hubungan Lingkungan Intra dan Ekstra Oral Terhadap Status Kesehatan Gigi pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Langowan Timur Kabupaten Minahasa

Abstract

Dental health problems in primary school students in the District of Minahasa Regency of East Langowan need a serious attention, because according to monthly of reports integrated Recording and Reporting System Health Center Poly Dental Clinic Langowan in 2008 that the prevalence of dental caries disease and sequel reached 68.3%. This is possibility due to the motivation of treating dental caries or early patching is still low, attitudes and actions to maintain dental health are still lacking. The purpose of this study is to find whether there is any relationship of the degree or closeness of the relationship between intra-and extra-oral environment and dental health status.
The research methodology that has been used is analytic method with cross sectional approach. The sampling method is by simple random sampling with a total sample of 53 students. Technique of data retrieval is done by filling out the questionnaire and dental examination. Analysis was carried out in stages include univariate analysis and presented in frequency distribution tables followed by bivariate analysis using chi square test. The results found that there is a between 1) the type of food, 2) frequency of consumption of hawker, 3) cleansing food consumption per day, 4) tooth brushing technique, and 5) tooth brushing time with dental health status (DMF-T) with values p < 0.05. Odds Ratio found that categoric not like to eat sweet foods, consumption rarely snack, after dinner to consume cleansing foods, the correct technique when brushing your teeth after eating and brushing their teeth, have a greater chance of dental health status compared with foods like sweet categoric, frequent snacks, before consuming food cleansing diet, one technique of brushing and brushing teeth in the bath only. From this research, we can conclude that there is a significant correlation between Intra and Extra Oral Environment and Dental Health Status in Elementary School Students in District East Langowan Minahasa Regency. The suggestions are proposed, namely dental hygiene students must maintain order DMF-T index was not increased
